Red Hat® and Oracle Linux 7 Enterprise System Administration          Cost: $2,500

This course teaches basic topics in Red Hat 7 system administration. Topics in this course are also apply to the SUSE, Fedora, Oracle Linux 7 and CentOS distributions. Students will learn how to install, configure and administer a RedHat Enterprise system.

This course teaches all of the topics that are included in the Red Hat ® RH124 course

This course is open to the public and will be held online Live with Bill Calkins as the instructor.

Upon completion of this course, you should be able to:

  • An overview of Oracle Linux, Red Hat, GPL licensing, and where it fits with other Linux distributions
  • The Linux kernel and devices
  • Understand the boot process:  systemd, services and run levels
  • The bootloader (GRUB2)
  • Managing local storage
  • Logical Volume Manager (LVM)
  • Manage network storage:  NFS, iSCSI, and SAN storage
  • Manage user accounts and groups
  • Security administration
  • Configure networking (basic and advanced topics)
  • Administer log files
  • Monitor and troubleshoot system performance
  • Plan an Enterprise Linux installation
  • Manage virtual machines
  • Manage system processes
  • Backups – Techniques to backup the OS and Best Practices
  • Manage a local yum mirror
  • Manage and install Kernel and OS updates – Best Practices
  • Use Ksplice to keep the kernel updated
