Course Description:
This course teaches basic topics in AIX system administration.   The students will learn to install and manage the AIX operating system in a multi-user IBM Power System environment.  The operating system will be IBM AIX 7 and the Student will have access to an IBM Power System lab environment..

Upon completion of this course, you should be able to:

    • Introduction to IBM Power Systemservers and AIX System administration
    • The System Interface Tool (SMIT)
    • System Startup and Shutdown
    • Access the system console / Introduction to the HMC
    • Installing the AIX Operating System
    • Manage and update software packages
    • Updating the AIX OS
    • Understand Physical and Logical Devices, ODM and Location Codes
    • Manage Storage
    • Manage Filesystems and the Logical Volume Manager (LVM)
    • Manage paging space
    • OS Backup and Restoration tools
    • Administer User Accounts
    • Secure the AIX operating environment
    • Manage Processes and Jobs
    • Network Configuration
    • Rootvg backup and recovery techniques
    • Introduction to Workload Partitions ad LPARs
